We provide blu-3, a world-class, fully integrated infrastructure provider, delivering expertise to the UK and Europe’s largest construction projects, with internal marketing communications in line with uplifted blu-3 marketing graphics across the board.

The Brief

blu-3 needed to boost its internal communications in line with its externally elevated branding to ensure clarity and consistency of messaging, as well as create improved engagement with its employees. The company has staff working in offices and sites across the UK and Europe on utilities, construction, civil engineering, highway and data centre projects. PHD was tasked with providing comprehensive, consistent updates to the geographically diverse workforce to promote inclusivity.

Our activity

We worked in collaboration with our partners, Design by PH, to create ‘blu-3 buzz’, a new quarterly newsletter designed for digital distribution to all employees. blu-3 buzz includes project and site news, employee achievements, HSEQ and CSR updates and a people focus section. 

We set out to create an inclusive document for blu-3 staff that blends technical and people-focussed information in a universal easy-read style. blu-3 Buzz was created in line with external design work we had undertaken for blu-3 to create a sense of unity for external and internal communications.

In its 12th edition, blu-3 buzz has proved an effective communication tool for the company for the past three years and counting! Above all, the newsletter demonstrates that it is not simply the latest technology, platform or system that is guaranteed to be the most effective.

For this client, a traditional newsletter, which can be viewed via smartphone over a lunch break or printed out for a site noticeboard, was the right choice as part of a holistic messaging approach.
