PHD triumphs in start-up business category at Forward Ladies national final
Pontefract business woman, Joanna Stephenson, has led her company, PHD Marketing & Strategy, to success in the start-up business category at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards 2016 national final.
Ms Stephenson was named Start-up Businesswoman of the Year at an awards luncheon held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The PHD managing director came out on top against three other regional winners to take the national prize.
The inspirational event was hosted by ITV newsreader, Charlene White, and included an engaging keynote speech from Petra Wetzel, founder and MD of WEST Brewery in Glasgow. Ms Wetzel’s highly entertaining speech was grounded by the key point that 'enjoying what you do can be an important contributing factor to success'.
Jan Flawn, owner of PJ Care walked away with the top award of Outstanding Business Woman of the Year – which is decided from winners of the regional categories – for her work to establish a company that provides specialist neurological care and rehabilitation for young people.
Ms Stephenson commented: “I honestly did not see this one coming! As a business leader, you strive to do things better on a daily basis. But to be up against a group of inspirational ladies in this event really highlights some of the great work that is going on all over the country. I feel extremely privileged to have won.
“I’m particularly delighted that we’ve been recognised in the start-up business category. I wouldn’t be here accepting this award without the support of my team. Petra alluded to ‘loving your job, getting out of bed and being raring to go’ in her speech. I think I speak for the whole team when I say that we very much enjoy what we do and our enthusiasm is something that comes across to our clients.”
Momentum continues to gather for the Yorkshire-based B2B marketing and strategy agency. To find out more about how PHD can support your business to success, contact the team on +44 1977 708 643 or email@example.com
