PHD continues awards momentum
A Pontefract business woman has been honoured in the national Women in Business Awards 2016, organised by Forward Ladies.
Joanna Stephenson, managing director of PHD Marketing, leading marketing and strategy agency, won the Start-Up Businesswoman award in the regional finals which were held in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Ms Stephenson said: “I am so thrilled to have won. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting it as the other nominees in the category were of such high calibre with such amazing businesses. I am immensely proud of the work the all-female team at PHD has achieved during the last two years. These awards are important because they give women a unique opportunity to acknowledge their successes and become credible and inspirational role models for others.”
Following a career in the chemical industry and latterly working as the marketing and innovation director at LINPAC group, Joanna set up PHD Marketing Ltd. in 2014 after successfully pitching the then Board to outsource the marketing department. Two years on, she now supplies a range of marketing & communications services to manufacturing and distribution businesses across UK, Europe, and the Middle East, with a particular focus on print, plastics and packaging markets.
Now in its seventh year, the Awards, organised by business networking group Forward Ladies, have grown from being purely regional into one of the most prestigious events in the national calendar for professional women. Forward Ladies, founded in 1999, supports women in their professional lives and celebrates and champions the role of women in the workplace.
All category winners from each region will now compete for the overall title of the Business Woman of the Year at the national final to be held in Leeds in December.
Earlier this year, Ms Stephenson was named Business Person of the Year at the Wakefield Business Awards 2016, held in June. The PHD team was also nominated for an Independent Business of Year recognition award at the Yorkshire Choice Awards in April.
